about

The song was written during my "Lullaby/Berceuse" project funded in part by the CALQ. This track is inspired by loved ones who suffered from post partum depression - to shine light on them tenderly. Haunting but hopeful - and strong. Recorded in Toronto with Guillermo Subauste, April 2015.

lyrics

Would you really like to know
What goes on down below?
Would you really like to know my baby?

There’s a place I’d rather go
Where the soft embers glow
But the hall of doubt is long my baby

And as I walk down this hall
One by one they will call
But I hear you crying my baby

Your sweet face a spark of light
Setting fire to this night
Embers they are glowing bright my baby

Would you really like to know
What goes on down below?
Would you really like to know my baby?

Your sweet face a spark of light
Setting fire to the night
Embers they are glowing brighter baby
