about

Krista has been busy recording and mixing her fifth full-length album while becoming a master printer! “Between Atoms” is her most ambitious creation to date incorporating her talents as a producer, recording engineer, musician and print maker. It was sparked when she was asked to write a song for Greek painter Stefanos Rokos' exhibition "Horror & Romance On Another Planet."

This seamless ethereal pop creation explores themes ranging from particle theory to purgatory. The record features lush vocal harmonies, electric ukuleles, and an army of vintage organs. Inspired by The Animals, The Byrds, Emily Dickinson, Dante, and Krista’s travels.

Track Name: Dante Park
I daydreamt I saw you in the afternoon
then that night I called to you
Angels led me down to Dante park
Moonlit Mary waiting for me

And I’ve got a sunny feeling
that there’s something moving through those clouds
and through your eyes
And I know it’s a funny feeling
but I’m taking it for what it is
It’s a sign
It’s a sign

Wandering wastrels weighted by heavy stones
Contemplating this time that they’re longing to renew
Every tree sings to me a woeful tune
Imagines that burn until the dawn turns fiery blue

And I’ve got a funny feeling
that you won’t be leaving me behind
I’m standing true
And I know there’s a sunny feeling
And I’m taking it for what it is
Hold on tight
It’s a sign
It’s a sign...
Track Name: Tired Angels
I followed death into the grove
It turned to me and whispered go
It’s time to rise above
It’s time to rise up
Then death it flew into my hair
And it got tangled there
The more it struggled it cried
And then death (it) died

Anvils not angels weigh in
Dark matter
Brawlers betray championing
Dark matters
Challenging our universe
Dark matters
Strengthened when weakened
Reversed
Dark matters

My angels, my angels are tired
My angels, my angels are tired
My angels, my angels are tired
My angels, my angels are tired
Track Name: Shutterbug
Shutterbug snapping everything up
So he can be there too so she can let him know
Shutterbug buzzing around this world
Ringing every door so that they will know

And please sing for me…
And don’t ever stop

Shutterbug shudders to think of
When the aperture is open just enough
Shutterbug’s sacred images of rose windows
Rose windows open up

And please ring in my ears…
And don’t ever stop
Track Name: The Wash
Hung, hung, hung, hung on the line again
Hung, hung, hung, hung out to dry again
Hung, hung, hung, hung and we’ll try again
But she’s taking her time as she’s faking her lines
Will the infamous ink ever dry?

Hung, hung, hung, hung side by side again
(Side by side this is where we begin…)
Hung, hung, hung, hung and we’ll lie again
(Lying on blankets of sable and sin…)
Hung, hung, hung, hung and we’re dry again
(Oh, will we dry will we try again…)

And the ink almost dries as we hang on the line
And we’re closer than ever this time

And we’ve tangled the lines as we walk these fine times
When it breaks we will take to new heights…
Track Name: Between Atoms
You seem to float between the atoms
Your quarks revealed in glowing shapes
Living beneath a broken bell jar
Vibrating strings adorn this place

Ohhhh…what lies beneath us
And ohhhh…what lies between us

And as we float between the atoms
(We seem to float out of our dreams)
Our quarks revealed in glowing shapes
(Form-like shapes reach out as receivers)
We live beneath a broken bell jar
(Reaching out engaged in grey matters)
Vibrating strings adorn our space
(Are we here or are we far from…)

Ohhhh…what lies beneath us
And ohhhh…what lies between us
And ohhhh…what lies beneath us
And ohhhh…what lies between us

And as we float between the atoms
Our quarks revealed in glowing shapes
(Form-like shapes reach out…)
We live beneath a broken bell jar
(Form-like shapes reach out as receivers)
Vibrating strings adorn our space
Track Name: Marysburgh Vortex
(featuring chorus by Emily Dickinson - “Hope” – 1861)

Carry me, oh carry me
oh carry me, oh carry me
the Marysburgh Vortex is calling
Carry me, oh carry me
oh weary me, oh wary me
Please let me be sheltered from trivial trappings

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all

Carry me, oh carry me,
oh bury me, oh bury me
Let sand dunes be blankets that calm and cool me
Emily, oh Emily
oh ferry me, oh carry me
I met you when I was but fifteen sailing

And sweetest in the gale is heard
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm

Carry me oh carry me
oh Emily, oh carry me
The Marysburgh Vortex is calling (calling)
Carry me, oh carry me
oh weary me, oh ferry me
I’ll wade through the doldrums
I’ll wade through once more

I’ve heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea
Yet never in extremity
It asked a crumb of me
Track Name: Start Again
She said “I used to be a stripper peeling off images”
When the curtains came down it was burned into silk
They said “It could become antiquated” but she didn’t pay heed to them
In the bright white room she cleaned up images some cold and some untrue

And now she’s got the spray gun three thousand pounds per square inch behind her
And if the contours are too harsh she will erase them…

And then she was a “plater” working late on the offset press
When the print bell rang she looked to organdy skies
They said “it could become antiqued” so she put on her best coat of emulsion
In the dim yellow room she burned in images of architecture lost

And now she’s got the spray gun three thousand pounds per square inch behind her
And if the contours are too harsh she will erase them and start again
Now she’s got the spray gun three thousand pounds per square inch behind her
And if the contours are too harsh she will erase them…

And now she’s got the spray gun 3,000 pounds per square inch behind her
And if the contours are too harsh she will erase them and start again
Now she’s got the spray gun three thousand pounds per square inch behind her
And if the contours are too harsh she will erase them…
And start again!
Track Name: Moderato
Awaken in the arms of the morning
And the spires will the clouds to meet this dawning
It’s never easy to take on the morning
With the city far below windswept and storming

Let it weather while I kiss you my love…

We move westwards descend to the river
But it only casts back our own reflections
Suspension bridges these highways
And the inter-coastal weaves to meet this moment

These rivers may lead to the ocean
These rivers will lead to an ocean my love…

Threading the eye - Stitching these times
Colour sublime - Take on these times
Threading the eye - Stitching these lines
Colour sublime - Take on this time
Track Name: Mauvais Moment

T’as toujours lit le mauvais mot
C’est le temps de dire le mauvais mot

Mais ahhhhhh…Mais ahhhhhh…
Track Name: Ultraviolet Eye
I can’t think!

In this multiverse
When you spin in reverse
Gravitational pull
Pulls me interspatial

Ultraviolet eye
Will you bend to my wire
When I bend to your field
When we’re moving in time

I’m feeling your feeling
I’m feeling your feelings
I’m feeling your feeling
I’m feeling your feelings

Matters of love!
Matters of matters of love…
